Actually now that I look at that title, it’s sort of redundant isn’t it? Most beginnings are new, or they wouldn’t be beginnings! But at the same time, we all know that as we begin things like new seasons, new school years, and so forth, things are indeed beginning, but they are beginning all over again, one more time. The excitement of newness blends with the familiarity of finding ourselves taking but another step in a continuous journey.
And so it is with the symphony. We have a new office (on the second floor of the Aurora building, on Dewey with the white façade), and are getting accustomed to the comfort and space of our new location. We are very excited to be here, although we do miss many aspects of being at our beautiful (and somewhat more architecturally innovative) Community Center.
Now, in addition to our new digs, we have this, our new website, still in the process of building, but made oh so easier for us to maintain and to use for timely communication with our current and future audiences. And we think it looks good, too! Many thanks to David Cochran for working so hard on developing a friendly, useable and attractive site.
And then, of course, with the advent of August comes the advent of New Season Terror, as I realize all the planning for the new season that I still have yet to do, and how quickly rehearsals and concerts will soon be looming on the horizon. There are so many great things coming this year, and in the weeks ahead I’ll try to point out some of the interesting aspects of our wonderful season from my own perspective.
But for right now, let me simply welcome you to our new website, and to the new season that lies ahead. I am so excited about all of our New Beginnings!
