John Mallet became a member of the Bartlesville Symphony Board in 2011. John is an Information Technology Analyst/Architect for Conocophillips. He volunteered for the Board because he feels the BSO is a treasure that should be shared by all in our community.
“The BSO is an opportunity for me to give back to others the many blessings I have been given in my life.” John quotes Ralph Waldo Emerson, “What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.”
The satisfaction John gets by being on the board happens when, “The imagery that comes to mind at each performance of the BSO and the smiles and applause from every concert patron who shares in my reward.”
For those who have supported the BSO for years John says, “Thank you, thank you, thank you for your long time support. We now ask for your help and understanding. We ask that you help spread the word about the treasure you already know about and we ask for your understanding that culture/Arts programs are in a fight for their lives given the current economic conditions. Know that your BSO Board is doing all it can to ensure the BSO is around for many generations to come.”

John and his fiancĂ© Melinda recommend that if you’ve never seen a symphony concert before, you should. “Times are a changing; the BSO Board wants to go where no orchestra has gone before and want you to be along for the journey. Buy a concert ticket and hold on tight for a wonderful and mesmerizing night that just might surprise you!”
