Faye Millen plays the 2nd Violin, and on occasion the Viola, for the Bartlesville Symphony Orchestra, and she has been playing for the BSO since 1982. She currently works at Independence School District in Independence Kansas as the Orchestra Director for grades 5-12.
Faye started playing at age 9 when she was in the 4th grade. In 10th grade she made it into the Pittsburgh (PA) Youth Symphony, where she played for the World’s Fair in Canada, the Pittsburgh Symphony, and was on TV several times. She is a graduate of Indiana University of PA, where she learned to be a Music Teacher. She has taught in public schools in PA, KS, OK, conducted church choir, and was also a private teacher and Director of the Bartlesville Suzuki Music Program for 23 years.
Faye loves to play and share music at concerts and musicals, and has over 60 productions of in the pit, city bands, local concerts, as well as professional gigs in Tulsa. She says, “Music is a comfort, it can wash away the troubles of the day, and carry you to a peaceful place; at a live performance anything can happen!” Some of her favorite orchestral pieces are Dvorak Symphonies #8, 9, Bach Double Concerto for 2 Violins, Handel’s Messiah, Bach Brandenburg Concertos 2, 3, 5 ,Hanson Symphony #2, Brahms Symphonies 1,2,3,4, Bordine’s Polovensian Dances, Copland’s Rodeo, and Mozart’s Eine Klein all movements.
